Space Chorus 01.08. – 30.08.2018 Alte Handelschule, Leipzig
‘Space Chorus’ is the welcoming show of the 36th Round of the Pilotenküche Art Program & Residency – inaugurating the creative blast of 13 resident and 2 local artists as part of our community. After just one and a half months of the program, the residents have unleashed an unprecedented variety of ideas, into a unique show in the special room of the Alte Handelschule. 15 totally different voices, continuously pushing the boundaries of their practice, exhibit their fearless approaches to experimentation, in a show that combines an ample diversity of backgrounds and techniques including painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, performance, interactive mixed media, digital art, and more.
Space, as complicated and challenging as it might be is perceived to be the mediator that will bridge the ostensible cultural gap between the thematic and practices of this variety of artists. And yet, this is further developed in the concept of ‘chorus’ as connotating a sense of community, symphony and harmony. The exhibition is a curatorial effort to bring all these voices as in chorus into an eloquent space which propels audience interaction and reflection and invites the visitors to come and take a moment to listen to the voices as reflected on the works.
